A Japanese carved wood folk art sculpture of a seated Boddhisatva. The Boddhisatva sits in a pose of royal ease with his right arm resting on his raised knee. The Boddhisatva sits in front of a round aureole of red ground and gold dots. The Boddhisatva rests on a two part base of lotus design. The upper portion modeled on a lotus blossom, and the lower section of an upturned lotus leaf. Edo Period (1600-1868) Boddhisatva 11 ½’ high, overall height to top of aureole 18 ¼” high
